Ceramicist Kelly Edwards is a pioneering Raku specialist who transforms sculpted clay into refined works of art using the unpredictable blaze of fire, often ignited in humble metal trashcans. Her delicate ceramics stand in striking contrast to the chaotic, spontaneous nature of her process. The results are captivating sculptures that have found homes in galleries and private collections across the nation, including those of her alma mater the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and former President Bill Clinton. In 1999 she joined the Wingate School of Art as an Instructor. The has been instrumental in establishing the school’s Raku program. Decades later, the continues to guide students, helping them forge their own creative paths.
