Before pursuing art professionally, Barry played football for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks under legendary coach Lou Holtz. With Coach Holtz’s encouragement, he chose to follow his passion for art and went on to earn a fine arts degree from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.. Soon after graduation, Barry received the Society of Illustrators Hallmark Award and began his career in illustration and commercial art before ultimately devoting himself to fine art..
Today, Barry is recognized for a distinctive Impressionist style marked by broad, confident brushstrokes, brilliant color and a remarkable ability to create light on canvas. He often avoids heavy browns and blacks, instead building his compositions through vibrant color relationships that give his work its signature warmth and vitality. Collected for both their visual impact and emotional resonance, Barry’s paintings reflect a lifelong commitment to seeing the world with energy, optimism and an artist’s eye for beauty.
