Born in Southern California, my interest in art began early when my parents took me to museums, such as The Getty, where I saw my first Rembrandt portrait. (I still use some Rembrandt techniques to this day in my commissioned portraits). This was the beginning of my lifelong quest for knowledge, love of art, belief that all knowledge influences art (including history, mathematics, and psychology), and that learning is a lifelong pursuit that is essential to one's growth as an artist. By the age of 12, I was studying oil painting with a private tutor, thereafter continuing my studies through college and beyond in Italy, Amsterdam, Holland, and France. My reputation as an Old Master painter has led to many years of commissioned portraits, landscapes, sculptures, abstracts, and murals. I am especially enthusiastic about mixing new paint technology with Old Master techniques. To be a painter is to be a chemst. I have two extremes: Old Master's works and the abstracts I set on fire. My world view and philosophy of life are influences by my love and study of art, history, and psychology (especially Carl Jung), through which I have come to believe that we are all connected and need to work together. To this end, I enjoy sharing knowledge and teaching workshops in California, Oregon, and throughout the United States. |
